Building a BOQ

Sections, line items, specs, and rate management.

Sections

A BOQ is a list of sections (e.g. Substructure, Superstructure, Finishes). Each section contains line items. Sections can be reordered by drag-and-drop.

Line items

Each line item has: - A spec picked from the shared spec library (description, unit, base rate). - A quantity in the spec's unit (m², m³, lm, no., etc.). - An optional rate override if this project negotiated a different price than the library default. - Optional notes and drawing reference.

Totals roll up: line total = quantity × effective rate; section total = sum of lines; BOQ total = sum of sections.

Specs library

Specs live at the workspace level — shared across all projects. Update a spec's base rate to flow into new line items that use it. Existing line items keep the rate they were created with unless explicitly re-synced.

Rate snapshots

When you export a BOQ, the rates at that moment are frozen into the export. Later changes to the spec library don't change historical exports.
